Remarks: During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871, he served as a volunteer surgeon for six weeks with the French and another six weeks with the Germans. He traveled and lived for a time in Egypt, where he served as chief pharmacist of the sultan's harem, known as Sandi-Efendi. Starting in 1874, thanks to the good reputation he had earned in Vienna, he opened a private practice on Asperngasse Street, in front of the Europa Hotel, where he consulted "in any medical field." In 1871, he get his doctorate in medicine.
